Brother Youmarcks Jacques

  • Born in Haiti, Br. Youmarcks joined the Dominican Missionaries for the deaf apostolate in 2018 and completed his novitiate.
  • He has completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology in Haiti. He also completed 3 years of post-theology studies at Divine Word College in Iowa in 2018. Speaks French, Creole, Spanish and English fluently.
  • He is currently in a Master’s program in Pastoral Theology at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT. and will be finished in December 2020.

    The founding of the Dominican Missionaries for the Deaf Apostolate has been largely a labor of love for our founder, Fr. Tom Coughlin. In 1977, Fr. Coughlin was the first deaf priest to be ordained in the United States. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for the deaf community within the Catholic Church.
